Morbi Bridge Collapse: High Court judge Recuses Himself From Hearing
Gujarat High Court Justice Sameer J Dave recused himself from hearing the case related to the Morbi incident reported navbharattimes.
Justice Sameer Dave recused himself from hearing the regular bail plea of a manager of Oreva Group. The manager is in jail for his alleged role in a bridge collapse in Morbi last year that killed 135 people.
When the bail plea of manager Dinesh Dave came up for hearing before Justice Sameer Dave, he recused himself saying, “Not before me”, though he did not give any reason for his decision.
It is to be noted that the bridge, built and operated by the Orewa Group, collapsed a few days after it was reopened after repairs. At least 135 people were killed and 56 were seriously injured in this accident.
The High Court has granted bail to some of the accused in this case, although Jaysukh Patel, the head of Oreva Group, is still in jail. Jaysukh Patel, head of Oreva Group, has also applied for his bail.
