We stand at the dawn of the golden age of mediation: CJI DY Chandrachud
Expressing views at the inaugural session of a national conference on “Mediation at the Dawn of Golden Age” at the Delhi High Court CJI DY Chandrachud remarked that need of mediation is extremely crucial. He stressed that online mediation as a mode of dispute resolution should be preferred.
CJI asked that, “In today’s fraught times, mediation has a message for us as citizens. Are we losing our ability to talk to each other across the spectrum? Are we losing the ability to engage in reasoned dialogue?” He further said that, “Law schools have a responsibility to train their students for the changing legal landscape. Youth-based mediation will prepare the next generation.”
The conference was organised by the Delhi High Court Mediation and Conciliation Centre (Samadhan). It was established in the year 2006 to advocate the need for mediation as an effective instrument of resolving the disputes.
It should be noted that the Mediation Bill is pending before a Parliamentary Standing Committee.
