Job Title: Associate Legal Officer, P2

Education

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in law, criminal law, international law or international humanitarian law is required. A first level university degree in one of the above-mentioned fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in law, including legal analysis, research and writing is required.

Experience working in an accountability mechanism is desirable.

Experience integrating gender and child-sensitive perspectives into substantive work is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
