Expert Committee For Reforms In Arbitration And Conciliation Act Constituted By The Government 

Department of Legal Affairs established committee to examine how arbitration legislation functions in India and provide recommendations for changes to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.

Within 30 days from today, the committee is supposed to provide its recommendations. The effort is being made to reduce the number of times parties must go to court to request judicial intervention.

Dr. T.K. Vishwanathan, a former secretary of the department of legal affairs will be the Chairperson.

In India, domestic arbitration is governed by the “Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996.” Amendments were  made in 2015 and 2019.

The Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Bill, 2015 was introduced into Parliament by the Government of India in order to change the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.
