INTERNATIONAL E CONFERENCE ON ARTFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND LAW,
CALL FOR PAPERS

ABOUT THE CONCEPT:

The development and growth in artificial intelligence are not overnight successes for scientists. The journey of artificial intelligence (hereinafter AI), which started with the imagination of science fiction writers, now has become a reality and is an indispensable part of our lives. Many industries are influenced and transformed by the application of AI.

The impact of AI on our lives ranges from subtle to profound. Google search predictions, voice recognitions, email filtering, weather forecast, Amazon’s Alexa, and Apple’s Siri are a few examples of AI. The word ‘Artificial Intelligence’ was coined by John McCarthy, also known as the father of Artificial Intelligence, in 1956 at the Dartmouth Conference. Almost two decades later, when the true potential of AI was realized, it gained attention from tech giants like Google, Tesla, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple etc.

The developments in AI have reached a stage where it is now receiving mixed opinions from various scientists, researchers and industries The legal industry is also one such industry which is highly influenced by AI and has witnessed paramount improvements in delivering speedy consultation services and access to justice. With the various features provided by Al and Machine Learning in the litigation industry, like contract review, contract analytics, automated chatbots, and automated due diligence, the legal proceeding has become swifter with improved efficiency and accuracy. AI-powered robot lawyers and judges have given the judicial system a new dimension.

However, AI has certain limitations regarding data privacy, liability, personhood, intellectual property rights, human rights, competition law, etc. In the last few years, the development of AI as a technology has been exponential and has constantly improved its efficiency. Still, it has also given rise to several legal issues which need immediate attention from lawmakers because it is interfering with the legal rights of the citizens. Various issues like cyber security, data breach, intellectual property rights issues, privacy and data protection, algorithmic issues, lack of accountability, etc., must be resolved immediately.

This e-conference aims to garner a strong academic response to address the legal issues associated with AI applications. This e-conference shall invite panel discussions from eminent speakers and shall have sessions revolving around the various aspects of AI in the litigation industry to discuss the opportunities and regulatory issues with respect to AI.
