On April 14, the Supreme Court Would Remain Close

In honor of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar’s birthday on April 14, the Supreme Court announced today that the Court and Registry would remain closed.

 

In a circular, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud made the announcement.

This year marks Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s 132nd birthday.

Dr. Ambedkar was independent India’s first law minister.

According to reports, a group of lawyers had written to the CJI to ask for the Supreme Court to make Ambedkar Jayanti a permanent holiday.
