Delhi High Court rejects government’s request to execute arbitral award against RIL

In a dispute with Reliance Industries over cost recovery clauses and the refund of royalties and taxes linked to the Panna, Mukta, and Tapti gas fields, the Delhi High Court rejected the government’s appeal for implementation of a 2016 final partial award (FPA) of an arbitral panel.

The petition was dismissed by the high court because it was deemed “premature and not maintainable.”

According to the order issued on Friday, the 2016 FPA is “not an executable arbitral award” because the government is not given any financial compensation.
