J&K Legal News: CJI Along With Law Minister Will Lay Foundation Stone Of High Court Complex

On the occasion of laying the foundation stone, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor BD Mishra, High Court Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Pankaj Mitthal, besides all judges of Jammu and Kashmir Ladakh High Court will be present.

Chief Justice of India Dr. DY Chandrachud will lay the foundation stone of High Court Complex Jammu in Raika area of Sidda, Jammu. Strict security arrangements have been made in Racka. The Jammu Bar Association has supported the new complex. Although some organizations and lawyers are also opposing it.

It is notable that at present the Jammu and Kashmir Ladakh High Court has two benches. One in Jammu and the other in Srinagar. The High Court has a bench at Janipur in Jammu. Now it is being shifted to Racka. Rs 938 crore will be spent on this complex. It will have 34 court rooms.

Those opposing the shifting of the High Court to Racka have been termed wrong by the Bar Association. In a press conference on Tuesday, Pradhan Vikram Sharma said that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has given permission to build a high court in Raika forest. Some people challenged this decision in the Supreme Court. This was rejected by the Supreme Court by saying that when the NGT has given a decision, they cannot go against it. In such a situation, when the Supreme Court has spoken, then no one can oppose it reported amarujala.
