Delhi High Court asks Twitter to share details of accounts that have been airing unauthorized content and clips from the film Jawan
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked social networking site Twitter to disclose basic information like e-mails, IP addresses of some of its subscribers.
These accounts were allegedly accused of unauthorized airing of clips from Shahrukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Jawaan’.
It is noteworthy that the producer of the film Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd had filed a petition in the court seeking to block and remove unauthorized telecast of material and clips related to the film. After which the court issued an order to YouTube, Twitter and Reddit, directing them to immediately block and remove the unauthorized broadcast and content of the film from the site.
In this case, the plaintiff in his submission before the court stated that infringing content was being posted on Twitter from 5 Twitter accounts and sought to disclose the details of these accounts.
Justice Hari Shankar’s bench has passed the order directing Twitter to provide the information.
