Duties and Responsibilities
Within this framework and under direct supervision of the Head of Outreach Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Ensures information flow between Headquarters and the field, provides field staff with timely information on judicial developments and other relevant events as well as with responsive lines developed at Headquarters, canalises questions raised by field staff on substantive matters, identifies problems and issues to be addressed and recommends corrective actions, identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
- Gathers, analyses and processes country action plans received from Field Officers (Outreach) and provides advice to Head of Unit on messages, outreach tools and cross cutting information campaigns needed to effectively engage identified national and local stakeholders. Drafts and/or adapts the content of outreach tools as necessary.
- Provides substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation of outreach strategies, including the review and analysis of emerging development issues and trends.
- With input from the Field Offices, contributes to various written outputs: drafts sections of strategies, annual reports and reports requested by Chambers; maintains updated content of outreach pages of ICC website.
- Develops and executes country action plans in situations with no presence of outreach field staff, including calendar of activities and resources needed; undertakes outreach activities, makes presentations on assigned topic and activities, participates in the development of training workshops, seminars, participates in field missions including provision of substantive and administrative support.
- Participates in discussions and consultations with representatives of civil society organisations, researchers and other allies presenting outreach plans, reports and/or updates of the evolution of outreach in specific Field Offices.
Essential Qualifications
Education:
Advanced university degree in Liberal Arts, Law, International Affairs, Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, Gender studies, Social Communication, Journalism, Psychology, Social Work or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of relevant experience is accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years (four with a first level university degree) of relevant work experience in public information, outreach or related area is required.
- Demonstrated experience at an international level is desirable;
- Demonstrated experience in organizations dealing with law, human rights or a related subject is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Ability to listen to others, respond to their information needs in a manner that audiences will understand, even when difficult legal topics are under discussion
- Excellent report-writing skills
- Ability to analyze sensitive contexts and suggest actions accordingly while maintaining diplomacy and tact
- Prioritization, creativity, initiative and organization
