International Legal Jobs: Human Rights Adviser Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, Council of Europe
Qualification and Eligibility
hold a higher education degree or qualification equivalent to a master’s degree (2nd cycle of the Bologna process framework of qualifications for the European Higher Education) in law, political sciences or international relations;
have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in human rights protection and promotion;
have a very good knowledge of English and basic knowledge of French;
be a citizen of one of the member states of the Council of Europe and fulfil the conditions for appointment to the civil service of that state;
have discharged any obligation concerning national service (military, civil or comparable);
not be the parent, child, stepchild or grandchild of a serving staff member of the Council of Europe;
be under the age of 65 years.
Demonstrate to us that you have the following competencies:
Professional and technical expertise:
– consolidated experience in working on legal, policy and awareness-raising issues related to the protection and promotion of human rights in Council of Europe member States;
– experience in monitoring and advising on the implementation of human rights on the ground, in particular on a country-specific basis, including organising visits and preparing reports;
– experience in building and maintaining networks of human rights stakeholders and designing events involving them;
– good knowledge of the Council of Europe’s organs and institutions, conventions and other standards;
– sound political judgment.
