Supreme Court on declaring Cow as National Animal

Today, on 10th October’2022, Hon’ble Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Hon’ble Justice Abhay S. Oka of Supreme Court heard the petition filed by the Gowansh Sewa Sadan, seeking protection to the cows and declaring it as a national animal.

After hearing the plea, apex court asked the counsel of petitioner, Adv. Shiv Sagar Tiwari that, “Is it the job of the court to declare cow as national animal”, court further asked the counsel of the petitioner, that, “whose fundamental right is affected that you have filed petition under Article 32?”

The counsel of the petitioner tried to convince the court with the arguments but failed. Apex court refused to entertain the petition and it allowed the petitioners to withdraw the petition.
